What is this page?

It is a now page, an idea by Derek Sivers who says:

"Besides answering the common question, “What are you up to these days?”, those who have a now page say it’s a good reminder of their priorities. By publicly showing what you are focused on now, it helps you say no to other requests."

Working on Code Quality articles

I received some free copies of a code-quality book and I read it. Furthermore, I summarize it and will create a hones article about that. The best thing is that every subscriber will receive a free copy of that book which is normally sold by Manning Publications.

Deployed Memos For Public Notes

After I created an article in my newsletter about Memos, I deployed it in my cluster. It will be a public Twitter-like wall where I publicly create notes regarding my blog. I will share information on what I do, what I research, and maybe other things.

You can find it here: https://status.paulsblog.dev/

Changing Url

The transition to moving my domain from https://www.knulst.de to https://www.paulsblog.dev was very successful. I got much more views and my clicks from Google searches increased:

Profile Picture

For the first time, I added a profile picture to my web presence. You can now see how I look 😎 😎

That's me, and my dog in the back 😆

Working on Book reviews

I got the chance to receive multiple books from Manning publications to review them and create an article that I will publish on my blog. Also, they promised to provide free copies of some books to all of my Newsletter subscribers that I can add to the review post.

Working on a new documentation article at Img.ly

I started to create a tutorial that will be published within the official CE.SDK documentation.

Kubernetes

I researched Kubernetes and set upped a production-ready managed Kubernetes with Traefik as a Load Balancer/Proxy and multiple running services. I also wrote articles about How to do it:

Still learning new stuff every day!

Also, still have the same opinion about Kubernetes: I NEVER will migrate from Docker Swarm to Kubernetes. Honestly, Kubernetes would be the wrong choice for my cluster.

Optimizing My Blog

I replaced every picture on my blog with a webp version to use a better format. Should improve mobile speed.

I replaced Isso with Ghost native comments on 19.09.2022. I have optimized some SEO -related settings within my theme.

Also, I added an exit-intent (+second based) popup which I want to test to get more newsletter subscribers.

Still preparing to upload the theme to GitHub to share it with everyone (it is a forked version of Liebling-Theme). Furthermore, I still work on optimizing the mobile speed by minimizing JavaScript, adding lazy load to pictures, and reducing the need for third-party libraries: the cookie library is still in use :(

Simple Video Player in JS and HTML

The article was published on Img.ly: https://img.ly/blog/how-to-build-video-player-in-javascript/

Studying/Research

I have a research queue of over 30 topics that I want to study, deepen my knowledge and learn something new. It contains Microservices, Design Patterns, Productivity, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, SEO, Web3.0, NestJS, and NextJS.

Wait for new articles as soon as I finish some topics. Join my Newsletter to receive it instantly after I publish it.

Working

I am working as a Senior Engineer and Co-Lead for Realcore. I work with Android (Kotlin), TypeScript/JavaScript, and Docker. Implementing Cloud Communication Software in Android with PJSip, Janus (to enable video functionality), and different Web-Services. Also, I'm the Lead Developer to create Nola Android App and related backend services.

Living permanently in Soegel, Emsland

In 2018 I moved back to my hometown. I’m really thankful to be here with my family.

This is my only home, now!
